Alito Watch: Day Three Visual Round Up
There were plenty of good images from yesterday's Alitofest. For example:
Accompanying Sidney Blumenthal's characterization of Alito as Willie Loman, Salon offers a symbol of our new imperial presidency in honor of the SCOTUS nominee who blithely supports it.
WAPO captures Mrs. Alito wiping away tears (and winning the crocodile vote) before she is overcome and has to leave the room. Although the Dems never laid a rhetorical glove on her man, Republican Lindsey Graham produced this "empathy moment" by blaming them for doing so. (... By the way, does anybody peg that boy scout from South Carolina any better than Digby in applying the Huckleberry moniker?)
Nearing the finish line, Alito went the conciliatory route today with the understated blue tie. Still, given the scene outside (actually yeah, I think the Scalito Dancers were standing by), you'd think there was some kind of orchestrated campaign going on. Quick, hand me that baby!

I like the blue tie. It shows that he is not nutty like his fans.
I listened to some of the hearing on NPR.
Alito explained a bunch of times how he decides the cases. When a case comes to him he opens his mind up to all the arguments, he looks at the exact details of the specific case and applies the relevant precedents and issues a ruling.
Alito is really great at everything but the hard part is opening up his mind. For example, I think he would have ruled differently in the strip search case if he was a woman and a mother.

Ya got love Rove. The guy is great at creating these bullshit myths. Now we have a new one....the vicious dems beating on the poor woman. You think just one of the fucking Dems would have figured out that they were going to be accused of this stuff anyway, they mind as well go ahead and actually ask tough questions? But no. The Dems, once again, get the worst of both worlds. Rove just runs circles around them.

The seal of the imperious one needs a well-placed "finger" added to it somehow.

I just discovered your site and found myself sitting here longer than I ordinarily do in my browsing... I wanted to leave some applause and remind myself to come back (this note does both :)

AGAIN with the red! Aaaarrrgghhh, to quote Peanuts' Lucy.
I liked digby's notation that Graham was Alito's coach. But no, I'm sure it's not at all part of a passion play.
Of course, we now know that all those "spontaneous Floridians" protesting the chad counting in 2000 were all paid republican staffers. But I'm sure they wouldn't do anything like that again.......

Was she crying about the horrible outfits they make her wear? I would....

To add to Donna's comment, I noticed that when Mrs. Alito had returned to the hearings after her little moment of emote, she was wearing a different outfit.
What is it with Republican women and their affection for clothing made from upholstery fabric?

This well-coordinated crowd is made up of right-to-lifers, and it disturbs me that Alito feels compelled to shake hands with even one of them.

Is that their pre-op tranny son/daughter beside the sobbing one?
