The BAG Remains Open

Hollebenpic

Remember last August when I was in the back hills between Watsonville and Aptos trying to blog by bootlegging a signal late at night from the local fire station?

Well, I'm heading that way again in the morning and this time I have a new plan.  It's called "repose."

As a holiday greeting, I offer you this image from Jan Von Hollenen.  (The link to the series is below.)  With all the tough and often cynical imagery we look at here day in and day out, these images remind me to to lighten up, to exhale.  (I really love the one with the kid in the "turban," by the way.)

I also offer this thread to you so that, over the next few days, in between family, work, food, running around, and your own rest or contemplation, if you have image links to post and discuss, or you have thoughts on this series, The BAG remains open.

I'll be back Thursday-ish, ready to make a serious run at the primaries.

Best wishes!

I agree- the boy in the turban is sweet. The asphalt background in the others is a bit disconcerting. I'm reacting to all the other "asphalts" in Iraq photos stained with blood and bodies. The blankness in this case isn't any better. Michael, warm wishes for the holidays. Activate "repose" and enjoy it! Because logging off is not easy, a book you've wanted to read might help ease the jitters!!

very clever and cute. Happy holidays.

These were delightful. I think they would make a great school project, with kids learning how simple it is to create a non-truth with a camera and put it on the internet.

Thanks for the great link and wonderful pictures. They made my day!

The turban/dog one was nice, but the photographer one made me laugh out loud. I'm sure the kids liked imitating the photographer.

Why no girls, I wonder?

What a clever photo! Merry Christmas to you and yours

Lol @ "...the back hills between Watsonville and Aptos trying to blog by bootlegging a signal ..."

There is a pretty reliable signal in the parking lot of OSH on the north edge Watsonville near the intersection of Green Valley & Main. (near the freeway. Hwy 1). If you don't know where that is, just ask anybody where Orchard Supply Hardware is.
