Normally I like your bag stuff. However, todays feature of Condi Rice shows off an ugly underbelly of resentment.

I'm a little mystified as to what Mark is referring to. More than one pundit has observed that the nominations that Bush is now making are ones that consolidate his power, in that he is flushing out any remnant of people who might disagree with him. Papers from here to the UK have remarked upon how indistinguishable Rice's positions are from Bush's. So what is the "ugly underbelly of resentment"? Surely you're not saying that Rice gets a free ride from criticism because she's a black woman? Isn't that a tiny bit...racist?
