Bill Richardson, Would-Be King Maker

(click for full size)

I was a little disgusted reading this morning's article on Bill Richardson, would-be king maker.

After playing the "also ran" throughout the Dem campaign, the Gov of New Mexico now seems to be taking an almost sadistic pleasure in playing Clinton and Obama off each other -- especially as each continues to court him for his endorsement in advance of the Hispanic-rich Texas primary.

It's hard to see how this guy ends up Secretary of anything (like he's pining for) for spilling, almost verbatim, the contents of phone calls between himself, Hillary, Bill and Barack.

Heightening the tease is the accompanying shot of Bill x 2 during the recent Super Bowl.  If Clinton hasn't been beaten down enough the past month, he seems to know he's the couch ornament as the smug Richardson -- anchoring the foreground with his new, cute little beard -- poses for the camera.

I'm not sure what that blanket really says, but "GOD" wouldn't surprise me.

Poor Bubba. He used to be President of the United States, now he looks like an insurance agent angling for a signature, forced to sit through some home movies first. By his expression he's calculating whether heart surgery was really worth the hassle and expense.

Side by side, worlds apart. Strange bedfellows.

Strange, is that a folded flag behind Clinton?

Bill Clinton is showing much more fatigue on the trail than she is. He clearly is not well and needs to be home in bed.

Maybe the blanket says "GOP".

What's that strange colorful figurine on the side table? A "Big Dog" smoking a pipe? Is it some kind of novelty phone?

Good catch on the "folded flag", lytom. Where was this photo taken? Is it Bill Richardson's home?

The idea of using a folded flag as a sofa cushion is disturbing, to say the least.

Two guys watching The Big Game. Bubba's got the Home Team. Richardson bet the spread.

They're watching the game at the Governor's mansion in Santa Fe, NM. And that's pretty obviously a blanket with a flag on it.

As for drawing conclusions based on the photo... see this slideshow.
